WHY ADOPT A SEA OTTER?

The sea otter is one of the smallest marine mammals on Earth but one of the largest of the weasel family. They are excellent swimmers thanks to their webbed feet and can stay underwater for more than five minutes at a time since their lungs are almost three times larger than other mammals their size.

Historically over-hunted for their valuable fur, sea otters were almost driven to extinction in the past but are now protected by law. While numbers have bounced back, sea otters are unfortunately still classified as Endangered by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species due to ongoing threats like pollution and entanglements in fishing nets.

Your symbolic adoption is helping WWF-Canada protect habitats in Canada and across the globe to ensure the long-term survival of species like the sea otter. What's more, you're helping to create a healthier natural world for us all.

DESIGNED TRUE-TO-LIFE SEA OTTER PLUSH

Our sea otter plush includes key features of their real-life counterpart: big back webbed feet or flippers, a round sturdy tail and thick brown fur. It's also posed after how they are commonly found when above water; floating on its back.
