WHY ADOPT A WALRUS?

The walrus is known for its commanding presence, whiskers, long ivory tusks and their impressive size. A male walrus can weigh over a tonne! While they can live up to 40 years old, the future existence of the walrus is threatened by climate change.

Walruses are social animals that congregate in groups known as haulouts both on sea ice and on land. But as sea ice melts, more ships can come near sensitive areas where walruses socialize, reproduce and rest.

To better protect walrus populations, WWF-Canada is working to better understand their haulouts and minimize disturbances to these critically important sites. Your symbolic adoption helps WWF-Canada ensure the long-term survival of walruses and other Arctic species.

DESIGNED TRUE-TO-LIFE WALRUS PLUSH

Our walrus plush features the iconic whiskers and tusks of the real-life species, which they use to forage for food, break sea ice and climb out of the water. They use their whiskers, which are sensory hairs called vibrissae, to locate prey.
