WHY ADOPT A LION?

Lions are the only cats who roar together — even cubs join in with their little mews to mark their territory. A roar can be heard over eight kilometres away and lasts about 40 seconds!

While the lion once roamed throughout Africa, Asia, and Europe, the species now exists only in Africa and the Gir Forests of Gujarat, in India. Sadly, the number of African lions in the wild has declined by 25 per cent from 2006 to 2018 and they are currently listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

WWF is working to conserve lions by researching and monitoring their populations and working with communities to reduce human-wildlife conflict. Your symbolic adoption helps ensure the long-term survival of species like the lion and create a healthier natural world for us all.

DESIGNED TRUE-TO-LIFE LION PLUSH

Our plush features the lion's golden-brown coat that helps them camouflage with their surroundings in the grassland.

Typically, only male lions have manes as seen in this plush. The reason why lions have manes is debated, but some scientists believe that the darker the colour, the more attractive males appear to the females.
