WHY ADOPT A HUMPBACK WHALE?

Humpback whales live in oceans all around the world and migrate vast distances annually — from summer feeding grounds near the poles to warmer winter breading waters closer to the Equator. They get their name from the knobbly "humps" all over their back.

They also have smaller bumps on their head called tubercles, and each one contains a single hair that provides sensory information about the whales' surroundings from a very young age.

Along with ship collisions and the degradation of their habitat due to pollution, the greatest threats to humpback whales are entanglement in fishing gear and underwater noise. With your symbolic adoption, you're helping WWF-Canada bring the ocean back to a state of health and resilience, ensuring the long-term survival of species like the humpback whale.

DESIGNED TRUE-TO-LIFE HUMPBACK WHALE PLUSH

Humpback whales have 12-30 ventral pleats — long grooves on the underside of their throat that run all the way to their navel — which you'll see in our soft grey plush. These pleats allow the whale to expand its mouth three times its normal size during feeding so it can capture large amounts of food in one giant gulp.
