Why adopt a snow leopard?

Snow leopards are the only species of big cat that inhabit the cold deserts of High Asia. Given their remote location, secretive nature and smoky-grey fur that makes them practically invisible against the alpine landscape, snow leopards are rarely seen in the wild.

It's believed there are about 2,700 to 3,400 mature snow leopards in the wild — but there is still so much we don't know. To date, only three per cent of their range has been systematically studied.

Snow leopards are already disappearing from certain parts of their range as human development encroaches on the habitat. This also puts snow leopards at risk of retaliatory killings.

WWF-Canada has been supporting snow leopard conservation initiatives for years, using advanced technology like GPS collars and camera traps to identify critical habitats they need now, and in the future as they respond to climate change and increasing development. With your symbolic adoption, you're helping WWF fight to protect vulnerable species and the habitats they call home.
