One of our closest primate relatives, sharing 98.3 per cent of our genetic code, gorillas display many familiar behaviours and emotions from laughter to sadness.

Only found in tropical and subtropical forests in equatorial regions of Africa, both western and eastern gorillas are designated as Critically Endangered under the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

While they rank among the most threatened species in the world, your symbolic adoption helps WWF protect habitats to ensure their long-term survival. What's more, you're also helping save other species at risk around the world and to provide a healthier natural world for us all.

DESIGNED TRUE-TO-LIFE GORILLA PLUSH

Gorillas are stocky animals with broad chests and shoulders, large, human-like hands, and small eyes set into hairless faces.

Our plush was designed to resemble a gorilla walking on its front knuckles. This helps them spread out their weight and protects their joints. Their plush also features the silver colour to match silverback gorilla males found in the wild.

How does my purchase help wildlife?

Your purchase through our e-store is a crucial part of our fundraising efforts to support the conservation work that our scientists undertake to protect wildlife and their habitats. For example, to help protect narwhals, our Arctic Species Conservation Fund supports narwhal tagging and research in Nunavut. We also support the development of non-invasive research techniques, including the use of aerial drones and underwater microphones. This work helps us learn more about distribution, behaviour, and the impacts of underwater noise on narwhals, inspiring actions that safeguard the species.

What is the name of my animal / How do I receive information about the animal I adopted?

Our Wildlife Adoptions are symbolic, which means that your purchase does not correspond to a specific animal in the wild. By selecting the wildlife adoption kit you like best, you are helping to protect all species at risk – not just one.
