Bumblebees are among the most important plant pollinators, and humans rely on them for fertilization of approximately 30% of our food crops. Declines in bumblebee populations have been reported all over the world, as bees and other pollinators are threatened by human activities, such as pesticide use and transformation of their habitat for agriculture and city building. WWF-Canada is helping restore habitat for bumblebees and other pollinators by encouraging Canadians to make their garden part of the solution by planting native flowers, shrubs and trees. Native tree species support more than 30 times the number of insects than non-native species!
